Survivor China: Season 15, Episode 8
This season has officially gone off the rails. And not in a bad way! But definitely in a way where I have no freaking clue what’s going to happen in a given episode. There are essentially no alliances outside of Todd/Amanda and PG/Erik.
On the Fei Long side, Courtney kind of appears when Todd and Amanda are discussing strategy so she can say things like “yeah whatever you guys want, yeah, I wish I was at Sidewalk Cafe in NEW YORK CITY instead of here, so I don’t really care.”
And basically everybody ignores poor Denise — who literally got picked last in the “schoolyard pick ‘em” (my favorite Probst-ism, when he goes full gym-teacher) — when she is such an easy alliance member to pick up.
And then you have James and JR, just kind of rolling around in the mud? I’m not even sure.
In between both groups you have Frosti, who both sides continue to just talk to as if he’s fully committed to them, while he shrugs his shoulders like a kid in between his two divorced parents.
And then we have PG and Erik, lingering around as The Other Guys.
Outside of the two strong duos, there’s a bunch of people wading around in the middle without any real strategy, which means in my mind, they could flip to any side at any time.
Add into this the fact that Todd is going haywire, and I had no idea what was going to happen. I think Todd initially calling out James as a threat given he has TWO immunity idols and is by far the biggest physical threat made sense…
But then JR comes to the SAME plan, and Todd is like psych, let’s vote out JR! What is the thought there, my man? PG and Erik can basically sit back and let this madness play out, but I would not be surprised if they can swing Denise over to their side as she casted that lone, sad vote for PG at tribal. Even Courtney, who at this point is the closest third member to Todd and Amanda’s alliance, I think also kind of hates them??
If Todd doesn’t vote out PG in the next episode, he’s suddenly going to be looking at a situation in which the table could be completely turned. Ultimately, I don’t even think voting out JR was a horrible move, but I do think Todd’s coalition-building, or lack thereof, is going to cost him — we’ll just need to see where all these wildcards fall going forward.
